MPI Finland celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a chapter in December with a company of members and other stakeholders. The purpose of the celebration was to thank our committed stakeholders but also to engage our stakeholders for the future. MPI Finland Chapter would not be as lively as it is without our committed members and sponsors. The anniversary gala was organized, not only to celebrate the the members and partners that we have today, but to also thank the founding members who drove the creation of the Finnish MPI Chapter. The current leader had a great dialogue with members of the founding board and the invitees learned a lot from the history of MPI Finland. Below are some pictures of our anniversary gala.
Minna Sauramaa and Anette van der Vliet (in the middle) were part of the first committees who made MPI Finland a reality. Juhapekka Koppanen (left) and Anne Laukkanen (right) have continued to steer the chapter in the past year and a half.
Long-standing members were rewarded. Taru-Maija Heilala-Rasimov's 19 years as a member have been full of active participation locally and globally.
Cheers for the first 10 years and many more to come!
Looking forward to coming years
During the last two terms, our chapter’s focus has been strongly in different development projects, and the chapter development will continue in upcoming year as well. During the ongoing year, we have carried out a workshop with our members to be able to offer education that is more beneficial, valid content in communication and add value to membership itself. The results of the workshop were extremely fruitful, and our members truly appreciated for engaging them to development. In addition to the workshop, the second large-scale development project during the ongoing term has be the renewal of our Chapter Bylaws concerning the Finnish legislation.
Even though we have done a lot during the 2015, its’ all been just a warm up as the development of our chapter continues goal-oriented in 2016 too. First time in our chapter’s history, we have been accepted a chapter grant by MPI Foundation for Ready. Set. Meet! -program. For the support of MPI Foundation we are organising an educational session on SMM: Adding Value to the Participant Experience during the biggest Congress and Events fair in Finland, taking place in April 2016 during the week of Global Meeting Industry Day! Ready. Set. Meet -program creates us a great opportunity to highlight the professionalism and relevancy of our chapter, as well as MPI in general. We are aiming to gain new members and stronger our status among the event professionals in Finland.
In addition to new members, we are continuously seeking new ways to develop the existing memberships and their engagement to MPI Finland. For that reason, we are executing in the spring 2016 a qualitative research for our members who have not been actively involved to our chapter’s functions during the recent years. The purpose of the study is to gain more information of what we could offer more as a chapter to our “passive” members to be able to satisfy their needs and expectations better. The study will be conducted as a bachelors’ theses, and we are looking forward to have the results at the latest in May.
The upcoming year 2016 is going to be a year full of successful encounters thanks to our committed board and stakeholders. We are looking forward to the next ten years with great expectations!
