The educational agenda included several speakers divided into parallel sessions. The keynotes gave an outlook for destinations, travel, skills and tech that provide both opportunities and challenge for events and business overseas.

Dr. Eliza Hixson - Strategic Meetings Management: what is happening and what it means
This presentation explained the nature of Strategic Meeting Management (SMM), including insights into the key drivers for SMM adoption and key practices implemented. Raised issues with global implementation as well as the impact of SMM for suppliers.
Dr Eliza Hixson is a Senior Lecturer of Events Management at Leeds Beckett University (Carnegie Faculty) and course leader for Conference and Exhibitions Management. She holds an honours degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management and a PhD from the University of South Australia. Eliza’s PhD research focused on assessing the social impact of major events. More recently she led research to investigate the practices and value of Strategic Meetings Management which involved interviews and a survey with meeting professionals. Eliza’s results were published in a series of papers published here www.mpiweb.org/SMM.
