During WEC15 in San Francisco, MPI introduced the MPI Academy, which aligns with the Meeting and Business Event Competency Standards (MBECS) and is designed to provide multi-faceted learning oppotunities for meeting professionals at all levels. Its portfolio is comprised of training courses, certificate programs, streaming sessions from MPI events, webinars and tools such as the new MPI Professional Development Roadmap. The roadmap helps individuals map out their carreers, pursue continuing education and supplement professional development.
The Professional Development Roadmap lets you identifiy where you are in your career and lays out the steps you need to take to get where you want to be. MPI is cultivating a “best in class” collection of certificate programs that cover the main areas in the meeting and event industry, including Healthcare meetings, core meeting skills, CSR and meeting technology, all the way through obtaining your CMP and CMM. It can be used as a tool to map out your career, to continue your education, or supplement your professional development.
The program is designed for novice and mid-level professionals, helping participants enhance their skills in competencies. The course cover fundamental knowledge needed to execute and deliver high-quality, relevant meetings and are recommended in preparation for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) exam.
This intensive certificate course provides education, tools and applicable instruction to immediately begin practicing sustainable meeting planning. It is built around learning and using the Sustainable Meeting Planning Program.
Presented in partnership with the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), the certificate course explores the advantages of hosting events on cruise ships comparet to traditional venues. This interactive session highlights which types of meetings or events should be conducted onboard as well as provides valuable cost comparisons.
Experiential Event Series. MPI is partnering with high-profile events in key areas such as sports, entertainment, culinary and mega-events to provide unique, intimate education experiencees, including behind-the-scenes tours and discussions. These programs will include certificates in areas such as event production and sports event management. MPI’s first experiential event was in the entertainment category—The Miss America Competition (not to be confused with Donald Trump’s Miss USA competition). Celebrating its 95th anniversary, the Miss America Competition was televised live on ABC from Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 13, 2015.
