My involvement with MPI started many years ago, when I was invited to give a presentation at the MPI European Conference in Monaco around 1990 of how we created the Danish Convention Bureau in 1988. I felt at once that the MPI organization and its network was extremely relevant also for the Danish meetings industry. Together with my staff at DCB, I started forming a MPI Denmark Chapter shortly after, supported by and in cooperation with my friend and professional colleague Lars Christensen, who at that time was the owner and CEO of the PCO company International Conference Services in Copenhagen and a member of MPI’s International Board Of Directors.Since then, during shifting career situations, I’ve been active on and off whenever it was relevant for my job. Around 10 years ago, while being responsible for the MICE sector at the national tourist board, VisitDenmark, we took over the secretariat of MPI Denmark, and I was voted in for the Board.
My firm belief is, still, that MPI network is the most important for everybody in the country who works 100 percent of their job time with meetings and events to enhance both their own professionalism and the awareness and respect of the meeting and event industry as such in our society.
My last large achievement during my years at VisitDenmark was to be the responsible project manager of developing the Meetovation concept.
And when Copenhagen hosts for the third time, the EMEC16 I will be as proud as any ‘father’ to a beautiful baby (I do have a ‘real’ and successful daughter as well!), when the entire conference will be carried through based on our Meetovations principles. Facilitated by my dear colleagues and friends, the Meetovation ‘mother’ Ann Hansen and ‘uncle’ Bo Krüger. I do look forward to EMEC16 – and hope that all the MPI members planning to join us too!
Join us at EMEC 16 in Copenhagen!
The European Meetings & Events Conference takes place in Copenhagen from 7 to 9 February 2016.
